Believe it or not, an anchor from Blackbeard’s ship has been found and retrieved from the Atlantic off North Carolinas Coast!

The 3000 pound anchor is reportedly a spare that was kept on board.

Air bags were used to float the anchor. Apparently, high waves made the heavy anchor bang into the recovery ship before being placed on the deck.

After restoration, which may take years, the anchor will be displayed at the North Carolina Museum of History.

Found in 1997, the ship wreck site has delivered thousands of artifacts.
