Consider this scenario! You are animatedly engaged in playing your favorite Xbox title and all of a sudden your console freezes on you, without any warning or indication. The same has happened with me and I bet many Xbox owners out there also have encountered this issue. Hence, I am writing this article to alleviate their troubles to some degree.

First off, in any problem you encounter, a proper diagnosis is imperative. You need to ascertain exactly when your Xbox 360 freezes. Does it freezes when you connect to Xbox live connection, during playing a particular game DVD or its freezing because of overheating and not being allowed sufficient time to cool down.

Most commonly, the console freezes while you play a particular game DVD. You need to eject that DVD and scan its undersurface for scratches, markings or if it is chipped. Running a DVD which has anyone of the above mentioned problems might be harmful to your DVD lenses and should be avoided on all cost.

Even then if you want to run such a DVD, it is advised to clean it using a soft cloth and some soap water. Don’t clean the DVD in circular motion instead stroke upward and downward softly. Freezing of Xbox 360 online is also very common, which can be because of internet settings and ISP fault.

Fortunately, the freezing issue is not really a big deal. You should be happy that you haven’t got the dreadful red ring of death, when the 3 red lights are flashing on the power ring. If that happens, then keep in mind that you can fix that yourself as well. No need to contact Microsoft, because that’s a big waste of time and cash!
