safety glasses

There was certainly a time when the words designer prescription safety glasses simply did not belong together. You could have designer glasses or you could have safety glasses, but you could not get both combined into one pair of eyeglasses. If a person was looking for a pair of everyday eyewear they could choose from a variety of colours and styles and price ranges until the pair was found that was comfortable and affordable and suited their style. If, however, the glasses being sought were safety glasses required for work, then the buyer would be resigned to settling for whatever clunky uncomfortable pair of frames and thick heavy lenses were available that met the requirements for the job at hand.

Fortunately, those days are safely in the past. Technology has brought us to the point where work eyeglasses can now be as stylish as their leisure-intended counterparts. New discoveries and new applications have made it possible for lenses to be produced that provide protection from sparks or flying bits of debris without adding the discomfort of added weight or the geekiness of the old-fashioned coke bottle look.

The importance of wearing proper eyewear cannot be understated. It is difficult to think of anything comparable to one’s sight that is so valuable and yet can be protected at such relatively low cost. That is to say, if you already need prescription glasses to give yourself 20/20 vision, the extra cost required to make them jobworthy is minimal. And if your vision is just fine, the cost of designer non prescription glasses is minimal as well, since the prescription is the most expensive part of the total price. So minimal, in fact, that the degree of safety provided by a pair of glasses is something everyone who requires corrective eyewear should consider before choosing a product, whether their work requires it or not. An airborne shard of wood or metal kicked up by a hammer on a small weekend carpentry task can do as much damage as anything one might face on a construction site. The piddling amount of money saved would be of little consolation should the worst happen.
