liposuction-procedure-300x300

In the middle of 1980′s a group of dermatologist surgeons developed a new form of liposuction. This development was considered a real breakthrough in fat removal surgeries. We are talking about tumescent liposuction which today is still considered the best type of liposuction surgery.

During a tumescent liposuction the surgeon is using only local anesthetic. The surgeon is injecting a large volume of saline together with the anesthetic and epinephrine in the areas where there are excessive fatty deposits. Most patients are nervous about the surgery and the surgery may use minor sedation for them, but in reality most patients are awake and conscious during the liposuction procedure.

Tumescent liposuction uses canulas to suck out the fat, but these are smaller than in other forms of liposuction. From the moment when the anesthetic was injected, the surgeon will insert two tubes to suck the fat using a technique called suction aspiration. During the procedure the surgeon can use his free hand to feel how much fat is still under the skin.

The recovery period is different from patient to patient and only few of them can walk out of the office and in a few days get back to their routine. However, a normal routine takes about six weeks for any resulting scar to begin to soften and a full year to heal completely. As the anesthetic remains in the tissue, the patient may feel temporary numbness in the treated area. Physical exercises are not recommended at least for the first two weeks after the procedure.

It is much easier to understand the final results if you find some tumescent liposuction before and after photos. This will help you understand what you may expect after the procedure. There are no other liposuction alternatives that can provide such fast and effective improvements to the body of the patient.
