With the growing population and the fast paced way of life that most people are living on these recent years, every amenity of life has been demanded to be fast. Fast communication, fast transportation, quick services, quick purchase and most of all, fast food. Everyone is demanding for everything to be fast, especially in regards to the service of food. With most people working 8 to 12 hour shifts while only getting a one hour window for a lunch break. You would guess how fast food chains have enjoyed the dear profit that they are gaining for meeting with the new era’s demands for faster service.
Often because people live too fast that they over look their safety, fast food chains are also regulated and compulsorily attained to the proper food handler safety procedures that are set by the FDA. The regulations for Fast Food Chains are strict, for the reasons that they are one of the most cultivated types of food servicing businesses.
Employee Hygiene:
Since fast food chains need to stack up a lot in the aspect of manpower to meet the expectations of their service. Employees are strictly regulated to comply to the proper hygienic regulations by the FDA. Employees must all be well groomed and clean before signing in for work, facial hair must be covered or pulled back with a headband or a hairnet. Fingernails must always be kept short and in no instance will it be allowable to work on a fast food chain with artificial fingernails. Employees are regulated to wear gloves at all times when handling, packaging, processing, and serving food, also, regular hand washes and a trip to the sanitizer gel is also a strict procedure.
Food Preparation:
For the reasons that fast food chains are made to serve their food fast, they are one of the premier culprits in serving undercooked food that has the potential to cause illness and food poisoning that can prove to be fatal. This why the FDA regulates the proper preparation and cooking of the food that they serve, which means that the proper cooking temperatures should always be met before serving food to customers. Especially with poultry like fried chicken or other chicken products and beef like burgers are recommended to be cooked properly in the right temperature, which is somewhere north of 145 degrees F to insure that bacteria and germs that are naturally in the meat are being killed in the process of cooking.
