If you’re a rider who enjoys to travel on his motorcycle, you know that you’ve got to pack everything efficiently because space on a motorcycle is at a premium. You can expand your carrying capacity beyond your backpack with some motorcycle luggage. There a few different types of luggage for your motorcycle including tank and handlebar bags, saddlebags, and a rack and luggage system.
If you’re only looking to store a few extra items, or items you need access to on a regular basis, you can probably just use a handlebar bag, or a tank bag. These are small bags that are usually designed to carry registration and insurance information, maybe some cash if you plan to use toll roads or bridges, and personal music players. They can be made of either leather, or a synthetic material, but are almost always water resistant or water proof.
If you want to increase your carrying capacity a little more, saddlebags are a good investment, and maintain a classic biker look. These come in either leather, or “bomb proof” plastic that can be locked. Their carrying capacities of the two are about the same, but the plastic are the more secure option, obviously. If you’re more concerned about maintaining a certain biker look rather than security, then the classic leather saddlebags are what you’re looking for.
For quite a bit more carrying capacity, a full rack and luggage set might be more your speed. These sets will essentially eliminate any aesthetic appeal of your motorcycle, but what they lack in bulky ugliness, they make up for in pure utility. The carrying capacities of these systems are massive, and they are made so that you’ll hardly know they’re there. They too come in securable or leather versions.
Now that you know your options in motorcycle luggage, you can grab your Harley Davidson sunglasses, hop on your hog, and head down to your local bike shop to pick up the set you need.
