Its a difficult question to ask but before I give my views on the topic I would like to say that if you write a letter to a few of the worlds leading game manufacturers they will certainly be able to guide you in the right path. Now I have applied before and been unsuccessful and the main reason for that is my school grades, they were not very good so if your still in school and are looking to become a video games tester then get your head back in those books because you need good grades, especially in English.

The main skills they look for are an eye for detail and the ability to be able to use a computer well as you will be expected to compile reports and use an emailing system to communicate with the bosses. You will be expected to play a new video game form start to finish in several different difficulty levels so as you can spot any glitches and or bugs in the games code, this could be scenery missing or not being finished properly to characters clipping when walking past each other, You make a note of where and when this happened and also what level and the game designers go in and fix the code.

But if there are any gamers out there that think they have the skills needed to give this career a shot then please put down your bluetooth headset for xbox 360 and get your butt into gear and start trawling the job adverts because these great jobs don’t come around very often.
