Usually the type of mattresses that most people prefer to purchase is the foam mattresses because they are what most people prefer and they are durable. Although you do not know the sleep patterns of your guests unless they are frequent guest, the sleep pattern also can play a part in what type of mattress you purchase. If you are a good host and let them use your bed while you sleep on the sofa bed, chose the type of mattress that suits your sleeping style.

If you are one that prefers to sleep on one side you should go for a softer mattress because this type can balance and support your body while you are sleeping. If you are a stomach sleeper you should choose a firm mattress to maintain your posture and if you are a back sleeper, opt for a medium mattress to avoid any back pain.

You also need to consider the material of the mattress and mattress sizes. The stuffing should be cotton fibers, foam, polyester fibers, etc. Get a stain resistant quilt cover. Before you buy a new mattress, make sure that you take the measurements of the sofa bed so it will fit well.
