There are several ways on how to overcome depression.  That said, depression is hard to deal with; the first step is probably the hardest yet easiest thing to do: accept the fact that we have problem. It’s important that you realize you need help;self-denial will just make matters worse. See a competent therapist right away and get the problems out of your mind. If needed, take some medications in order to calm your mind. Don’t miss any appointments and take your medications regularly. If the medicines don’t give the desired effects then you should tell your doctor right away. Changing the scenery is also an excellent alternative. Take a vacation, or in more severe conditions, a transfer of residence may become necessary. Take up a hobby. Stamp collecting, painting, ballroom dancing, cooking, even watching movies will help you forget problems at hand. Enroll in a gym and exercise. Increased blood circulation will make you more active and happier. Visiting friends and relatives will also give you more time to enjoy their company. Joining groups will give you more friends. New faces are good therapy for forgetting the past. And last but not the least: get a religion if you don’t have one.
