Everyone loves a bright and colorful garden.  A great deck lighting project can give your yard a real boost for relaxing, parties and celebrations at any time of the year.  If you use LED deck lights, then not only will you save money on power, feel safer that they don’t overheat and enjoy how long they last for, but you will get the ultimate flexibility of design.  But first of all there are 3 simple rules you need to go through before you put any money down.

Number One:

Plan, plan and plan some more.  Get that design fully laid out in detail.  Know where your low voltage lighting wires will go out of harms way for a start.  Understand how the play of light from the different fittings will have different effects in each area.  Decide if any of your LED deck lights will be solar powered or on motion sensors for the best energy efficiency.  This is all essential stuff that will determine your work load and budget.

Number Two:

What do you actually want it to look like?  There are so many combinations of types and placements of LED deck lights that you must work this out first of all.  Then combine it with the materials to get the feel and atmosphere you want.  So are you going to go for stylish solar LED deck lights, a classic wrought iron look with large accent post top lights, or a subdued and subtle affair?

Number Three:

Don’t break the law.  Be very aware of the building regulations, regarding safety on exterior stairways and steps.  You have to comply with this and all other local codes.  It would be a shame to have to rip down your decking and start again because you didn’t check.

You must go through all of these 3 rules before you even think about spending any money.  If you don’t you could be just throwing it away.
