If you are considering buying one of Panasonic’s newest top of the range plasmas then this Panasonic VT20 3D plasma TV review should help you decide if the considerable investment you are considering will be a worthwhile investment.

There can be no doubt that the VT20 is a TV that is packed with features and gadgetry that produce stunning pictures, but it does come with a hefty price tag attached. Where this TV excels is with the level of 3D performance. The images are sharp and well defined and the motion is smooth. The 600 Hz neo-plasma new technology is perfectly well suited for use with 3D because it reduces and almost eliminates the unwanted effect of 3D crosstalk (ghosting of 3D images). Generally speaking LED TV models have struggled to eliminate this problem due to the lower refresh rates and response times of their displays.

However when it comes to normal 2D performance, especially where standard definition is concerned (as opposed to high definition) the VT20 does not quite compare to other LED TV models from rival manufactures. The motion of the VT20 is affected by flicker and the colors are slightly un-natural when it comes to standard definition viewing.

In relation to other aspects of the VT20, Panasonic has implemented a well laid out menu system and ‘smart app’ system for interfacing with the internet to provide online content, Panasonic have labelled this feature Viera Cast. The TV also has a the ability to record, rewind and pause live television broadcasts by connecting a hard disk to its USB connection. One negative aspect about this TV is that its sound capabilities are a bit disappointing and lightweight (something which is not uncommon with other modern super slim TVs).

In summary, the Panasonic VT20 is a good choice for a consumer who wants to buy a top 3D performer, but if 3D doesn’t particularly interest you then maybe you would be wiser to go for a cheaper Samsung or LG LED TV which provide better 2D performance and slightly better internet capabilities.
