Kettlebell workouts are a fundamental part of my life and I credit them to keeping me injury free. I have an outstanding core and midsection because of these intense workouts. There aren’t many substitutes for the style of workout that the kettlebell offers. That is why they are catching on fast in North America. It isn’t some fad that will pass in a few years, this is here to stay and with good reason. Using a kettlebell is basically like swinging a cannonball with a handle around. It involves lots of lifting swinging and squatting, if you just visualize that you can probably see why this workout really hits the whole body. What it really does well, though, is target the core muscles around your lower back and abdomen. All those critical muscles that defend your spine and keep your balance need to be strong so you don’t get injured when lifting heavy weights.
I like to really feel that burn after a kettlebell workout. I love the feeling of being so spent I can barely sit up straight. That’s when you know you have put in a good days work and you can have that ice cold beer with no feeling of guilt. Sleeping is also much more satisfying when your body is recovering from a kettlebell workout. It really makes a difference in your life psychologically. You feel more accomplished and as a result you are more worry free and stress free. You will feel more confident know you just pushed yourself and met your goals for the day. There isn’t a whole lot that can put you in a bad mood when you feel physically healthy like you do after a high intensity workout. When I set out to really hit the gym hard, I make sure a kettlebell is in my workout plans.
