There are many uses for a security camera in today’s world. Home, stores, and offices are being robbed on a daily basis and a security camera not only deters burglars, but can notify the police when a burglary is happening as well as aid the police in identifying a burglar.
Stores often use a type of security camera called a cctv. This stands for closed circuit television. This means that the video is being recorded and transmitted, but only within the system- thus closed circuit. It is not being transmitted to cable televisions! But only to monitors often within the store itself. There will often be a security guard who is in charge of keeping an eye on these videos for anything suspicious. They will often have numerous cameras, each one pointing at a different area, so as to give the security guard a complete view of the store.
In homes, you probably do not want to use a cctv, as you will likely not have anybody to sit around watching the monitors all day. Instead, you will want to have a surveillance system which records the video feed. You can have the cameras record to a computer hard drive, to a memory card, a VHS, DVD, among many other options. This way you have a record of everything that the cameras have recorded.
There are many different features available in security cameras. One popular one is night vision. These cameras are able to produce a video even when it is too dark outside to see. If you want a clear, color picture however, a better solution is to put up security lights. This will help deter burglars and will provide a regular camera with enough light to record.
No matter which type of camera you decide on, be sure to do some price checking as the prices can vary wildly!
